2018 Fall Bass Classic Outcome!

Outcome of the Fall Bass Classic on Conroe!

Record Amount Raised At The Fall Bass Classic

Seven Coves Bass Club celebrated its 11th year of the Fall Bass Classic charity tournament, October 13, 2018, on Lake Conroe. Hosted by StowAway Marina, this year the annual tournament benefited the Kids Unlimited Foundation. Kids Unlimited (kidsunlimited.org) was founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to benefit children stricken with cancer. This organization as founded with the hope to provide children a reprise from cancer and an opportunity to be free of the harsh treatment regimen. Through these efforts, Kids Unlimited joins over 250 families together for consistent family-oriented activities.

This year we had 45 angler team entries, which allowed us to pay 6-places, and first and second Big Bass awards. The team of Garrett Pierce and Colin Bode figured it out with their limit of 17.47 pounds. Their win earned them a check of $1500.

The team of Sam Granberry and Ron Kost were the winners of the early entry prize drawing sponsored by The BASS Club, winning a Daiwa Fuego reel for each of them.

Drum Roll Please – Above all, the biggest winner was the Kids Unlimited Foundation as the 11th Annual Fall Bass Classic was able to raise a record $10,000! We presented this check at the annual Kids Unlimited “Kid Fish” event at Fayette County lake held on October 27, with many kids and families present.

2017 Fall Bass Classic A Success!

Seven Cove Bass Club celebrated our 10th year of the Fall Bass Classic charity tournament. The tournament benefited the local Conroe charity, Angel Reach, for the second year. This year was a little more of a challenge as we all dealt with the effects of Harvey. However we were blessed with many contacting us about fishing the annual event.

This year we had 34 angler team entries, which allowed us to pay 7-places, and first and second Big Bass awards. We had eight 5-fish limits weighed in, but the sacks fell off after that with only a 2-fish average per team. The solo “team” of Gabe Alanis figured it out with his limit of 19.95 pounds anchored by a 7.49 kicker, which took 2nd Big Bass for the tournament. Gabe’s win and big bass earned him a total of $1,490.

2nd – Collin Bode-Jackson Carrell – 17.28 – $590

3rd – Jason Griffin-Gary Griifin – 16.94 – $380

4th – Sean Hoernke-Curt McCauley – 16.11 – $280

5th – Garrett Pierce-Skip Regan – 14.99 – $160

6th – B.J. Tarr-Kelly Tarr – 14.54 – $120

7th – Jerry Watson-Hilary Watson – $50 Tackle Addict Gift Cards

1st Big Bass – Greg Wells – Austin Wells – 8.24 – $270

The team of Jason Branham & Jeff LeBlanc were the winners of the early entry prize drawing, winning a Daiwa Fuego rod & reel for each of them.

Above all, the biggest winner was Angel Reach as the 10th Annual Fall Bass Classic was able to raise $5,000. This amount includes the $1,000 donation that was presented to Angel Reach by Ron Kost on behalf of the Marine Corps League.

The success of this annual event is not possible without our sponsors, anglers, the community, and their support through their participation and donations.

More Fish Attractors Built On January 28th

More fish attractor construction this past weekend. We’ve exhausted our PVC pipe inventory & now we will stuff the frames with the drain tubing on our next build date. Then we should have all the attractors ready for sinking into Lake Conroe with the help of San Jacinto River Authority and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department!

I’m unsure if any of these will hit the water before the Bassmaster Classic on Lake Conroe but the long term benefit should be very good!

Thanks to those who were able to attend this phase of the build, you know who you are 😉

9th Annual Fall Bass Classic A Success!

Fall Bass Classic #9The 9th Annual Seven Coves Bass Club Fall Bass Classic benefiting Angel Reach was a great success!  We had 29 anglers that enjoyed cool temperatures and no wind Saturday morning.  Ms. Jordan Knight said the prayer sang the National Anthem just before take-off at Stow-A-Way Marina.

During the weigh-in the young adults from Angel Reach were on hand and assisted with getting the fish back to the water and with the raffle.  After the raffle and live auction, Ron Kost from the Marine League Eastex Detachment (and SCBC member) presented Angel reach with a check for $1,000.  In the end we had $2,735 in angler paybacks, and raised $5,000 for Angel Reach.

Upcoming Events in July

The S.E. Texas B.A.S.S. Nation tournament season has come to a close, except for championships, of course.

With the regular season tournaments behind us, we are left yearning for more competition in our favorite sport. Thus, our Jelly Jars come to the rescue! We are planning a couple jelly jar tournaments per month until the end of the year to feed our need for our love of tournament bass fishing. The term “Jelly Jar” refers to an old phrase from back in the days when a bunch of good ol’ boys would get together on a lake, stuff their money in an old jelly jar, then fish to see who was gonna end up with all that dough. I think our jelly jar got busted somewhere along the way, but the tradition continues…

These jelly jars give us a great reason to keep in touch with each other in the off season and also maintain a competitive edge regarding locating and putting bass in the box. Fun fishing is fun and always will be, but a little money on the line kinda heightens the experience. A portion of our entries go into the club kitty as well, this helps keep us solvent and viable as a club. We are planning 2 jelly jars in July, one night derby, one day.

We are also holding a club meeting on July 17th, so if you aren’t currently an SCBC member and are thinking about joining a club, come on by and introduce yourself.

Please check our Calendar Page for more details about upcoming events.

Thanks & tight lines y’all!

In Memory of Michael Conaway

In Memory of Michael Conaway Sadly, a boating accident resulted in the loss of Michael Conaway’s life while participating in a B.A.S.S. Nation tournament at Lake Conroe on Saturday February 20th, 2016.

Michael was a member of the Katy Bassmaster Club. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Michael, his family and all involved in this tragic event.

As a club, SCBC decided to donate our side pot proceeds to Michael’s family to help, in any way it might, with the hardships to follow.

These types of tragic events are rare in the bass fishing world. It strikes a blow to our hearts and we wish to offer our deepest condolences to Michael’s family and friends.
